John Baptist Ferguson 73 of Memphis went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 19th. He was born in Syracuse and was a life resident of the area. He retired from General Motors where he was employed for 17 years.
John was a member of the UAW Local 624. He was a former special deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and a former member of the Memphis Fire Dept. John served 11 years in the US Army and was a member of the Special Forces while in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. John was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis.
Surviving are 5 sons John Ferguson, Robert (Deb) Wheeler, Matt Ferguson, Michael (Jeannette) Ferguson, and Derrick (Melinda) Ferguson, 2 daughters Tina Hicks and Priscilla (Mike) Czyz, a brother Jack (Doris) Bardo, a sister Kate (Carl) Campbell, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 2-4 & 7-9pm Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Memphis, 1960 West Genesee St. Road (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Funeral service will be 10am Friday at the Church with the Rev. Arthur George officiating. Burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the church in John’s memory.
