Raymond J. Guerra, 96 of Elbridge passed away Saturday, Dec. 3rd at Loretto following a brief illness. Born in Solvay, Ray lived most of his life in the Jordan-Elbridge area. He was a graduate of Jordan High School, Class of 1939 and a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan.
Ray was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps having served during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #317, Skaneateles Falls, a charter member of the Jordan Community Council, an exempt member of the Jordan Volunteer Fire Dept., member of the Jordan Old Boys’ Club, Camillus Elks Lodge #2367, and the Moose Lodge #625 Syracuse.
He retired from the NY Telephone Company in 1983 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Pioneer’s Club and the Communication Workers Association Retirees Club, and Bell Tel Retirees.
Ray was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Ann Bowes Guerra, on November 14, 2005. He is survived by two sons, James Guerra of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Thomas (Judy) Guerra of Liverpool, 3 grandchildren Kami (Michael) Shehadi of Liverpool, Scott (Jen) Guerra of Cincinnati, OH, and Bryan Guerra of Boston, MA and a great-granddaughter Mikayla Ann Shehadi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday, Dec. 16th in St. Patrick’s Church, N. Main St. Jordan. The Rite of Committal and burial be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles. Calling hours will be 4-7pm Thursday, Dec. 15th at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church or the Elbridge Free Library.
