William A. May, 81, of Weedsport passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of Rosemary and John Arthur May. Bill was the owner of William May Texaco Gas Station at Crossman’s Corners. Bill was a walking encyclopedia on many subjects, most notability on Chevy high performance vehicles. A master builder of Drag cars and engines, he provided many NHRA record holders and winners over the years. He also enjoyed being a Ham Radio operator for over 50 years with the call sign W2AMK. He mainly operated Morse Code at high speed. Bill was a tech inspector at DIRT since its inception and was close friends with Glen Donnelly. Bill was an icon in
the community and will be very much missed.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother James. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 1-2:30pm Wednesday, April 13th at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Graveside services will follow at 3pm in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.
