Walter R. Loerzel Obituary

Walter went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Walter was born June 20,1928 in Oberstreu, Germany to Richard & Emma Loerzel. He grew up in a large family, during time of war, and the hardships he faced, shaped him into the man he was.

Walter excelled in bicycle racing and received many medals and trophies for his achievements.

Walter immigrated to the U.S. in 1952 and was drafted into the army in 1953. He married his wife, Elizabeth Ashmore (Betty) in 1954.  They had 4 children, he was predeceased by his daughter, Diane.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, sons, Richard, Ronald (Mary), Mark (Denise) and sisters Elfriede, Marga, Gerlinde, and Marlene, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He worked hard to provide for his family and loved his garden and fruit trees.

Friends and family are welcome to visit for calling hours on Thursday, April 4th from 5-7pm with funeral service immediately following at 7pm at Bush Funeral Home, 120 E Main Street, Elbridge, N.Y.  Burial will be on Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan Rd. Jordan, N.Y.
