Thomas J. Major

Thomas J. Major, 92, of Skaneateles Falls passed away Wednesday, July 30th. A native of Skaneateles Falls, Tom was the son of the late Floyd J. and Anna McGinn Major. Tom graduated from Niagara University and spent several years as a claims adjuster with the Nationwide Insurance Company. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles. Tom enjoyed the outdoors hunting, camping, golfing and snowmobiling. Tom especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his daughter Mary K. Major Hart on August 28, 2024.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Beverly Ann Straub Major, children John (Ruth), Michael, Teresa, Margaret, and Patricia, 4 grandchildren Elizabeth Murray, Kevin Hart, Matthew Hart, and Michael Major, 4 great grandchildren Allison Murray, Robert J. Murray IV, Delaney Hart, Oliver Hart.

Calling hours will be 4-7pm Monday, Aug. 4th at the Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St. Elbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday, Aug. 5th in St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Mottville Fire Department or Shriner’s Children Hospital.
