Thomas Arthur (Tom) Dygert of Jordan passed away on Saturday June 17th at the age of 85 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was the son of Helen and Arthur Dygert and a graduate of Manlius Military Academy. Following graduation Tom worked in his family’s grocery business in Jordan where he and his family were well known for their generosity in providing food to those in need. He subsequently became a member of the Laborer’s Local 433 from which he retired. Tom was predeceased by his parents and stepson, Gregg Gordon.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed snowmobiling, camping up North, hunting, fishing and boating. He was a charter member of the Camillus Elks Club as well as a Past Exalted Ruler and Past State Vice- President.
Tom had many friends and was a good friend and neighbor to many people. All who knew him will sorely miss him and cherish his memory.
He is survived by his wife Rita of 46 years, daughter Debbie O’Connor of Clearwater, Fl., son James Dygert (Patricia) of Chittenango; step-daughters Kim McNally (Mike) of Granbury, Tx; Lindsy (aka Lynn) McCallum of Tallahassee, Fl.; sister Dianna Zatto of Clearwater, Fl.; brothers-in-law Joseph Angeli of Estero, Fl.; James Angeli (Chafica) of Cicero; several grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday June 26th from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St. Rt. 5, Elbridge, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 27th at 10 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Church, 28 N. Main St., Jordan, NY. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery and Mausoleum in Dewitt, NY.
