Rosemary Donnelly Obituary

Rosemary Ann (Ferriero) Donnelly of Cato, NY passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024. Rosemary lived every one of her 87 years to the fullest. Born in Teaneck, NJ, she met and married her childhood sweetheart, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years.

After college she began her life-long career in nursing- a profession that perfectly reflected her compassionate and nurturing spirit. Upon moving to New York in the 1970s she embarked on countless adventures and activities. She was an active member of the Meridian Fire Department, a substitute nurse and teacher’s assistant in local schools, a real estate professional, and a devoted member of the Cato Rotary. Rosemary was also a vital part of the Cato Planning Board, where she proudly served for 40 years.

Rosemary’s life was defined by service, love, and an unwavering Catholic faith that guided her. A devoted member of St. Mary’s Church in Baldwinsville, she was honored to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and acceptance, a place where all who entered felt truly welcomed. She was not only a steady rock for her family but also a maternal figure to countless others whose lives she touched. She had a profound love for all living things and found deep joy in nurturing both people and the world around her.

Rosemary's vibrant and effervescent spirit was the heart and soul of her family and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Carol Bleckman, and her beloved husband, Prentice. She is survived by her children, James Donnelly (Debra) and Kathleen Phillips (David); her siblings Joseph Ferriero (Victoria) and Barbara Peabody (John); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her wishes, a celebration of her life will take place in the spring. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Jordan Fire Department, 1 N. Hamilton St. Jordan, NY 13080 in lieu of flowers.
