Pearl Simmons, 91, of Jordan, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Born September 12, 1932 to Yvonne and Emery Godreau in Massena, NY.

Pearl moved to Jordan in 1948 and graduated from Jordan High School in 1951.

She was married to Eugene M Simmons(deceased) for 58 years. Moved and lived on their farm in Elbridge for most of her adult life.

She worked many years as a teaching assistant and instructor for handicapped children at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, ARC and Camp Columbus. Many summers were spent at Owasco Lake serving as director. She was a dedicated swim instructor and National Red Cross certified life saving instructor.

For more than 30 years she also worked with Special Olympics. She coached/mentored several individuals in regional, state, National and World Olympics, including the 2000 Games in Greece.

Pearl was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church lending her voice to the choir.

She was an active member of the Alter Rosary Society and frequent volunteer to all activities.

Pearl received the 2023 Immaculata Award in recognition of her faithful and dedicated service to Christ and His Church. The award was presented by the Most Reverend Douglas J Lucia, Bishop of Syracuse.

Survived by brother Donald Godreau, Seven children Michael(Valeda), Mark(Anne), James(Kris), Brian, Marcia (Steve) Crim, Kevin, Alan(Christine) and

numerous grand children and great-grand children.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 28, from 4-7 pm at Bush Funeral Home, 120 East Main Street, Elbridge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 28 North Main Street, Jordan at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 29th. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
