John Frederick North Obituary

John Frederick North peacefully went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2024. John was born September 3, 1944, in Syracuse, New York, and grew up in upstate New York. After graduating from Alfred/Almond High School, he joined the Air Force to see the world, but ended up only seeing North Dakota where he served in the Strategic Aerospace Division (SAC), Minot Air Force Base. While there he met and married Bonnie, the love of his life, and they began their 60-year adventure together. Upon leaving the Service, John went to work for Honeywell, followed by Motorola while attending Arizona State University at night and earning a degree in Mathematics. He began working for ST Microelectronics in 1981 until retiring as Vice President of Sales in 2010. John will always be remembered for his fun loving, happy nature. He was so interested in everyone else's life; it was difficult to get him to talk about himself. He loved being involved in the lives of his children, and as a young father, John coached Little League when his son Johnny played ball. Later as a Boy Scout Master and Leader, he took the boys hiking in the Grand Canyon and on many adventures around the State. With a job transfer, John and his family relocated to Massachusetts, where he became a motorcycle enthusiast, joined a club, and spent many happy hours taking his grandchildren on back roads and through small New England towns. Upon retirement, he and Bonnie returned to Arizona. John enjoyed flying and once took his family in a Cessna across the United States from Arizona to New York. He loved flying his VANS RV6 around the State, enjoyed golfing with friends, hunting season in northern Arizona, reading, and traveling. John loved his home and family above all else and enjoyed the weekend cookouts and having his children and grandchildren around him. While he liked a busy life, he also liked his quiet times. He was content being home, going to lunch, or just hanging out with family and friends. He began almost every day on his phone with his longtime buddy solving the world's problems while drinking a cup of coffee. We will miss rolling our eyes at some of those conversations. John was preceded in death by his mother Margaret E. Paul, father Arthur J. North, stepfather John Paul, and brother David W. North. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, children John Jr. (Kathy), Cindi, Anna (Brett), and five grandchildren: Alexis, Tyler, Alison, Sarah, and Erin; his brothers: Arthur (Dorothy), Daniel, Gary (Lee), Robert (Edie), Richard (Karen), and his sister Margaret (Rick). Graveside services with Military Honors will be 11:00am Saturday, August 30, 2025  in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.
