James A. “Jim” Smart, 82, of Jordan, died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Jim grew up in Amboy and lived in Jordan the past 49 years. Jim was previously employed by Ingersoll Rand, and then retired from Penn Detroit. Jim loved to hunt, fish, paint cars, and spend time with his family. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. Smart; a daughter, Laurie A. Smart; his parents, Josephine A. and William E. Smart; two brothers, Ricky and William Smart. Jim is survived by a son, William H. (Lisa) Smart; a daughter Karen L. Smart; four grandchildren, Amanda L. (Jason) Segerlind, Amber L. (Rich) Smart, William H. (Jordan) Smart, Ashley M. Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Donna (Michael) Mills and Ronald Smart. Friends and family may call from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St. (Rte. 5), Elbridge, with a service to immediately follow at 7pm. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church, 30 Clinton St., Jordan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
