Felix Lukenbill Sr, 83, of Auburn passed away Monday, September 11, after an extended battle with heart and respiratory disease.
Felix was born and raised in Colfax, IL. As a young man, he enlisted in the Air Force and wound up in Syracuse, stationed at Hancock Field. After his honorable discharge, he remained in Upstate New York and spent almost 35 years working for Sylvania/GTE in Camillus. In addition to his full-time employment, he also served as the Care Taker of the Bishop Foery Day Camp from 1966-1979. Filled with the patriotic desire to continue to serve, he joined the Naval Reserve and retired after an additional 16 years of service.
In the day, his passion was golf. He loved to garden, loved his Giants and Syracuse University basketball. He spent many years ushering at Manley Field House and the Carrier Dome.
He is predeceased by his parents, 5 siblings, and a grandson, SGT Christopher Simpson, US Army, gone too soon.
He is survived by his wife Marcia, and his children, Curt& and wife Marie, Charlie& wife Melissa, Janine & husband Cory, Phyl, Kate, Felicia & husband TJ, and Theresa & husband Carl. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren; Tim & wife Claire, Mark, Michelle & husband Nathanial, Peter & wife Amanda, Jared, Chelsea, Zak& wife Anissa, Jake, Richard & wife Carol, Samantha and fiancé Fred, Mathew, Nathan, Trey, Ty, and Thressa and 6 great grandchildren; Saba, Audrey, Marris, Norah, Alice, and Haisley.
Calling hours will be at the Bush Funeral Home, 120 E Main St, Elbridge, NY on Tuesday, September 19 from 4 PM - 7 PM with a time of reflection at the conclusion. A Military Honors burial will be at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Road, Syracuse, Wednesday September 20 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any contributions be made in his memory to the SPCA or the VA Hospital.
He will be dearly missed and always remembered.
