Eugene Harry Nichols, Jr.

Eugene Harry Nichols, Jr.,75, of Cato, NY passed away February 14, 2021 peacefully at  home with his family by his side.  He was born in Binghamton, NY on August 13, 1945, the son of the late Eugene H. Nichols, Sr. and Virginia B. Fink. He was also predeceased by his sisters Linda J.  Nichols and Donna M. Nichols. Eugene is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary L. (Cornell) Nichols, daughter Laurie A. and son-in-law Eric C. Schultz, granddaughter McKenna N. Schultz, nieces and nephews. Eugene attended Jordan-Elbridge High School. He enlisted in the Navy

serving from1963-1967. He was a Vietnam War veteran. Eugene was a truck driver for 40 years and retired from Consolidated Freightways (CF) in 2002.    Gene was chief for a few years with the Plainville Fire Department and a member of the Scuba and Rescue team. He was a 4-H leader for years and was an active member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and Empire Appaloosa Horse Association from 1991-2015 and the Breeders Horse Club Association.  He was a supporter of the NBHA Association with his daughter. Eugene loved wildlife, fishing, and hunting.
