Constance Boyd Obituary

Constance Gertrude Boyd, 82, of Weedsport, NY, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023.

Connie was born on September 3, 1940 to Gertrude and Armand Nadeau in Wilton, NH.  She graduated from Wilton High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Bill Boyd, who ran the local diner, in 1959.

Connie and Bill started their family in 1960 but sadly lost their first child, Scott, soon after he entered the world.  By 1967 they had three young daughters, Kelly, Karen, and Kim.  As her children grew, Connie worked part-time jobs to help support the family.  She waitressed at Greenridge Turkey Farm; and she was a bookkeeper and secretary at several businesses in New Hampshire including Sheldon’s Auto, Horse of Course! Magazine, Kimball Physics, and the Milford police department.

In 1982 the family relocated to central New York where they made a home in Elbridge for many years.  Connie fell in love with real estate soon after and earned her real estate license.  Through this work she met and made life-long friends.  When she decided to slow life down a bit, she retired from real-estate and became the church secretary at Christ Episcopal Church in Jordan, NY more than 25 years ago.She thoroughly enjoyed her work and the parish familythere, and stubbornly refused to retire.

Connie loved to travel. She and Bill visited many exotic places over the years and introduced the girls to travel by taking them to Venezuela at a very young age.  They alsoespecially loved trips to coastal towns with lighthouses, and wherever their grandchildren happened to be at the time.

Connie enjoyed needlework, TV shows about animals, Senior bus trips with her friends, family reunions, road trips to unexplored places, and her most precious companion- her cat Allie.  She was passionate about her grandchildren, and enjoyed many soccer and baseball games, music and dance recitals, and horse shows.  When she couldn’t be there in person, she was always eager to hear the stories.  Connie also introduced her children to volunteer work, leading by example through her own work with the March of Dimes, Girl Scouts, Matthew House, and hosting exchange students.

Connie is predeceased by her husband, William Bernard Boyd; her father and mother, Armand and Gertrude Nadeau; her brother, Robert Nadeau; her infant son, Scott; and her grandson, Jesse James Rosebush. Surviving are her three daughters, Kelly (Kirk) Rosebush, Karen (Tom) Dumais, and Kim (John) O’Connell; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Nicolas) Temeles, Quinn Dumais, Emily Rosebush, Hannah (Logan) Crawford, Carly Dumais, and Greta Coyle, one great-grandson, Samuel Temeles and her brother David Nadeau.

Despite some health issues over the years, Connie was never one to give up.  When she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the fall of 2022, she marched forward with chemotherapy and the sometimes-unpleasant side effects.  Right up until the end she was still planning future trips, wanting to visit family in New England and Ohio this summer.  She passed away unexpectedly while visiting her brother in Myrtle Beach.  Her last days were spent laughing with family, sipping wine, and gazing over the beautiful AtlanticOcean.
