Charles F. Carter

Charles Frederick Carter Sr. born February 22, 1933 in Jordan, NY, passed away Saturday, March 27th at Auburn Community Hospital. Charles’ ancestors immigrated to New York State in 1709 with the Palatine Germans settling first in the Hudson Valley then through the Mohawk Valley to the Herkimer area eventually setting down roots in Weedsport and finally in Jordan-Elbridge where Charles spent most of his life as a resident with his family. Charles served in the US Navy as an Aviation Electrician for 8 years. After his Military service he received his Bachelors’ Degree from Jacksonville University in Florida and his Masters Degree from Syracuse University in Cell Science. Charles then became a Scientist in the Anatomy and Cell Biology Dept. at Upstate University Hospital until his retirement in the latter 1990’s. Charles was a member of the Arbor Day Foundation and the Nature’s Conservatory. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Diana May (Franklin) Carter, sons Charles Frederick Jr. (wife Karyl), Blake Andrew (wife Brittany) and Justin Charles, a stepdaughter Laura Ann O’Donnell, a brother John Francis Carter, and grandchildren, Chris, Sean, Wendy, Marcus, Ryleigh and Ronan Carter. Calling hours will be 4-7pm Tuesday, April 6th at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt.5) Elbridge. Graveside services with Military Honors will be 11am Wednesday, April 7th in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan with the Pastor Tom Bell officiating
