Caroline (Redmond) Smith

Caroline Redmond Smith, 99, formerly of Jordan, NY and Leesburg, FL passed away on October 17, 2021at Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse, NY. She was born in Jordan, NY on September 28, 1922.  She retired from her position as a Secretary for the Jordan-Elbridge Central School District Office in 1983.  She, along with her husband Arthur, moved to Mid Florida Lakes in Leesburg, FL for the next 35 years.  Family and friends remember her as an incredibly strong, kind, loving, independent woman. Caroline enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing golf, shuffleboard, bingo, cards and frequently visiting the Mason Jar for her “usual” breakfast.  She was an active member of her Jordan and Mid Florida Lakes communities. 

Caroline is predeceased by her Husband, Arthur, parents, Hattie and D. Claude Redmond; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth Redmond, brother-in-law, Frederick Sternenberg, nephews Richard and Ronald Redmond, and grandson Michael Smith.  Surviving to cherish Caroline’s memory are her children; Nancy Myers, Robert Smith (Sharon), Linda Venditti (Anthony), sister-in-law Janet Sternenberg; grandchildren, Daniel Myers (Candice), Andrew Myers (Amy), Marie Brzuszkiewicz (Brian), Eileen Smith, Jocena Cook (Matthew), Andrea Emerson (Matthew), and Jack Venditti (Haley); 11 great grandchildren, a nephew, and several nieces. Calling hours will be 10 am-12 pm Friday, Oct. 22nd followed by a memorial service at noon in the Jordan United Methodist Church, 63 Elbridge St. Jordan, NY. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Caroline’s memory to the Jordan Community Council or the Jordan United Methodist Church.  We would like to thank the entire medical staff at Upstate Community Hospital for their wonderful care and support along with the staff at Park Terrace in Radisson.
