Bruce A. Wheeler Obituary

Bruce A. Wheeler, formerly of Weedsport, NY, passed away September 30, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born in Albany, NY, graduated from Middleburgh High School, and earned a business degree from Hartwick College. Bruce served in the US Army after high school and before his time in college.

Bruce is predeceased by his wife, Ann Lounsbury Wheeler, and sons Graydon Wheeler and Bruce Wheeler Jr. He is survived by three of his children, Brian (Kellie) Wheeler, Brenda Wheeler and Sharon (Phil) Jennings; along with 11 grandchildren: Sarah Landry, Meghan Calamel, Ashley Monge, Amanda Wychocki, LeAnn Musso, Riley Spingler, Ryan Spingler, Jared Jennings, Emily Jennings, Nathan Jennings, and Allison Jennings.  He also has a surviving sister, Marcia Hickman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In 1977, Bruce bought the Agway in Jordan, NY, and moved the family to the area.  He was very involved in the Masonic Lodge in Jordan, on the Maple Grove Cemetery Committee, and volunteered at the Jordan Fall Festival, specifically the Woodsmen's Competition and greased pole climb.  Bruce and Ann had a beloved Lhasa Apso name Flo who was very dear to both of them and a wonderful companion to Bruce after Ann’s passing.  Bruce also enjoyed SU basketball, NY Yankee games, playing golf, and mowing lawns (his and neighbors).  They moved to Weedsport, NY, around 2002 and enjoyed almost 20 years in that community as well.  Ann and Bruce spent over 20 winters in Venice, FL, and made many good friends there, as well as their friends from NY.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 9th, from 4 to 7 at Bush Funeral Home in Elbridge followed by a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and a graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10th, at 11 a.m., at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any contributions be made to the Jordan Community Council, Maple Grove Cemetery, or Jordan Ambulance.
