Barbara J. (Kreisberg) Simpson Obituary
Barbara J. Simpson went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2026, after a courageous battle with a rare cancer. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
She was known for her deep love of God and her family. We will dearly miss her quick wit and her ability to find humor in any situation.
Barbara was born on October 15, 1962, in Syracuse, NY. She graduated from Cicero High School in 1980, and married her high school sweetheart in 1981. After getting married, they moved to San Diego, California, before eventually returning to New York.
She always knew she wanted to be a wife and a mother. She was incredibly proud of being able to homeschool her two children and raise them in the church. While her son, David, participated in theater with the Christian School of Performing Arts (CSPA), Barbara faithfully volunteered there for nine years, devoting her skills, humor, and motherly kindness to everyone around her.
Barbara was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis, where she was heavily involved with the children’s ministry. From teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School to AWANA and much more, sharing God’s love with children brought her tremendous joy.
She is predeceased by her father, Walter E. Kreisberg; her mother, Mary L. Kreisberg; her sister, Bonita L. McCombie; and her brother, Walter W. Kreisberg.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David L. Simpson; her son, David W. (Katelyn Sullivan-Simpson) Simpson; her daughter, Kimberly (Jeremiah) Jaeger; her grandsons, Kaleb Jaeger and Anthony Farrington; her granddaughters, Sierra Jaeger and Colette Sullivan-Simpson; her sisters, Janine (Matt) Wall and Julie Gustina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
