Barbara Hurd Andrianos
Born in 1935 in Hornell, NY, daughter of Harry and Kathryn Hurd. Lived in Lowville, NY where she graduated from Lowville Academy, class of 1952. Received scholarship to attend Central City Business School in Syracuse, NY where she completed a two-year course in one year, receiving a Medical Secretarial diploma. Married/divorced, then married Nicholas Andrianos from East Syracuse and lived there for over forty years. Retired to Jordan, NY in 2008. A mother of seven children, Susan Unz (Chris) Syracuse; Nancy Hvizdos (Mark) Texas; Carol Mauro (Bob Hollis) Rhode Island; Christopher (Marianne) Camillus; James (Janet) Mattydale; Jason (Jodi) Memphis, NY; Daniel (Lisa) Brewerton. Thirteen grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her husband, Nicholas, of 58 years, and her brothers, Dr. Douglas B. Hurd, NC and Gerald A. Hurd, FL.
Worked in various places in and around Syracuse as Secretary, namely Blue Cross, United Way, Sair Aviation, General Motors Banks, and filling temporary assignments. Also, Pastoral Secretary for four years and worked for a local architectural firm before retiring.
Music was a big part of Barbara's life, as organist, pianist, soloist and Music Director in three area churches in Syracuse and in Florida. A member of Zephyrhills First Assembly of God church in Florida, she attended Word of Life A/G church in Baldwinsville, NY. Most recently she attended Elbridge Community Church. Active in the Gideon Ministry with her husband, as an Auxiliary member. She also enjoyed family gatherings, children, cards and board games, cooking and baking Greek food, knitting/crocheting, arts and crafts, cake decorating and flower arranging.
Calling Hours are at Bush Funeral Home, Elbridge, NY on Sunday, December 7th from 2-5 PM. Celebration of Life to be held Monday, December 8th at 11 AM at Elbridge Community Church. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan, NY in Spring 2026. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Hope Family Services, 3519 James St. Syracuse, NY 13206 and Adult Teen Challenge, PO Box 72, Syracuse, NY 13205.
