With sadness we announce the death of Anna Fern Ray Holbrook, 95, of Memphis, New York (Jacks Reef) on Monday, March 1. Born in North Carolina where her mother was visiting at the time, Anna, the daughter of Joseph and Helena Ray, was brought up and lived most of her life in central New York. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and making a home for her husband and ten children, things that brought her great happiness and fulfillment.
Anna is survived by her devoted companion Frank Root, and by her children: Gerald, Jr. (Joan): Joanne Thomas (the late David); Bruce (Marcia); Brenda Cook (Brian); Rodney (Martha); Greg (Christine); Kevin (the late Kathleen); and Kelly Burrows (Randie); 26 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald, Sr. to whom she was married 58 years; daughter Sandra Schenck (Paul); and daughter Suzanne Woods (Jim).
At this time, visiting hours and funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan. An open memorial service and interment will take place in the spring on a date to be announced.
