Robert W. Deverell 93, of Weedsport, NY passed away Monday at home. He was born in Rochester and moved to Weedsport in 1960 where he lived for the rest of his life. Robert was predeceased by his wife Valerie who died in 2004.
In 1944 at eighteen years old, Robert was drafted into the US Army and served as a staff sergeant in the Military Police Batalion. For a time, Robert was stationed in BatTolz, Germany and was General Patton’s personal guard.
Robert was a self-employed chemical engineer. He enjoyed riding his bike, playing his guitar, gardening and driving the Model T.
Surviving are a son Joseph, daughters Lisa (Joseph) Harrington, Bridget (Neal) Hayes, Sarah (Christopher) Nichols, 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Meghan, Melissa, Alexandra, Jack, and Maddie.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11am Friday, July 12th at St. Joseph’s Church 2667 Hamilton St. Weedsport followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Weedsport Rural Cemetery.
