Shirley A. Polmanteer, 86 of Memphis passed away Thursday morning at the Iroquois Nursing Home after a spirited battle with Alzheimer’s. Born and raised in Phoenix, NY she attended Phoenix High School. For the last several years, Shirley lived in Memphis. Know by many as “Grandma Shirl”, she was a great cook and homemaker and she enjoyed working in her flower garden and around the family farm with her husband Gene. For many years Shirley was a waitress at Weber’s Wayside in Elbridge. She was a life time member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post #5540.
She was predeceased by her parents Tom & Mary Dunn, brother Paul, sisters Alice Harvey & Paula Baker.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years Gene, children Mike Murphy (Donna), Tom, Colleen, Maureen, and Robin (Lenny) Murphy, step-children Marty (Chris) Polmanteer, Michelle (Bob) O’Gorman, Randy (Jill) Polmanteer, siblings Eleanor Dunn, Arthur Dunn, Douglas (Elaine) Dunn, Marylou Corey, Betty Rusaw, Larry Dunn, Sheila Dunn and Terry (Sandy) Dunn, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Monday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 am Tuesday in St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan.
