John C. Anderson

John C. Anderson, 83 of Jordan and formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully Friday, March 16, 2018.  Born in Paris, France, John’s parents settled in New York State from overseas. John grew up in Larchmont, NY and after high school and some college John joined the Army and was stationed in Hawaii where in his off time he enjoyed surfing. After the military, he moved to California where he worked as a technician for Western Union and resumed his college studies. Another job opportunity located John to Central New York where he continued work and schooling and eventually earned a PhD in accounting from Syracuse University. John began his teaching career at Syracuse and later taught as a professor of accounting at various universities throughout the USA. Ultimately he returned to Syracuse University School of Management   from where he retired in 1998.In his retirement, he greatly enjoyed spending time with family and visiting Skaneateles Lake.

He was predeceased by his parents John E. and Sheila (Walker) Anderson and a sister Maureen Smith. Surviving are his children Sheila and David, grandchildren David II (Samantha) and Ashley, great granddaughter Hazel, brothers James and Donald, brother-in-law Adrian Smith, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
