Carl A. Tuxill

November 15, 1921 ~ August 11, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Carl A. Tuxill of Elbridge died peacefully Friday, August 11th at his home. Carl was 95 years old. He was born in Syracuse, NY on November 15, 1921 to Frank and Florence (Blood) Tuxill. Carl lived all of his life in Central New York with stops in Syracuse, Wolcott, Weedsport and Elbridge.

Carl graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1949 after returning from serving in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. His tour of duty with the Army Corps of Engineers included participating in the D-Day landing at Normandy. He met his wife Muriel Kelly in 1949, married her in 1950 and settled into their home on East Brutus St., Weedsport for nearly 35 years.

Carl went into business with his father in 1950, and started what later became Tuxill Inc., a structure moving company that worked primarily in Central and Western NY. He retired from that business in 1985 and shortly thereafter relocated to Elbridge. In his spare time, he (along with several other structure movers in the country) founded the International
Association of Structure Movers (IASM) and became very active in that organization for the next 15 years.

Carl was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Muriel, his brothers Wesley and Leonard and sisters Grace, Lura, Arlene, and Eleanor.

He is survived by his daughters Judith of Omaha and Pamela (Lynn) Willadsen of Pueblo, CO and his sons Jeffrey of Elbridge and Donald (Christine) of Burnt Hills, NY and grandsons Sean of Pittsburgh, PA, Ethan also of Pittsburgh and Trevor of Burnt Hills. Carl is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Carl’s life will take place September 7, 2017 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Weedsport, followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private in Weedsport Rural Cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of CNY.
