Barton Somes Obituary

Barton R. Somes, 94, of Jordan passed away Wednesday at the Commons in Auburn. Born in Jacks Reef, Bart was a life resident of the area. A 1942 graduate of Jordan High School, Bart was a dairy farmer for over 50 years. He was a member of the JE Seniors and a faithful longtime member of the Jordan United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by a grandson Brent B. Somes on Nov.16, 2018.

Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Shirley “Honey” Bentley Somes, son Gary (Linda) Somes, daughter Barbara (Gerald) Sweet, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be 11am Saturday, Oct. 26th in the Jordan United Methodist Church.

Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Jordan United Methodist Church.
