Doris S. (Snow) Howes

Doris Howes, 90, Memphis, NY passed away at home, February 24, 2024surrounded by her family. Doris was born October 4, 1933 in the Town of Van Buren to Charles and Juanita Snow. Raised on the family farm, she graduated from Jordan High School. Doris was a member of the Jordan United Methodist Church, where she was part of the nursery care team and prepared desserts for their community dinners. She baked pies for the Jordan Fall Festival and volunteered for the JEACB Food Pantry. She was the family & neighborhood babysitter, caring for 17 children through the years.

Doris made the best chocolate chip cookies, and canned & froze the fruits of the family garden.

Doris leaves behind her children, Rebecca (David) Soergel, Daniel Howes, and Christine (Todd) Town; grandchildren Rebecca (Alan Yanahan) Howes, Emily (Jaron Kent-Dobias) Howes, Alex (Cori Simmons) Town, Nathan (Devin) Town, and Sarah Soergel; great-grandson Clifton Town, and a great-granddaughter due to be born in May. Also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Maier; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Norman, son Charles, and siblings Shirley Ker and Wilma Calkins.

Calling hours to be held at the Jordan United Methodist Church, 63 Elbridge St, Jordan, NY on Monday, March 4th 4-6PM, with a celebration of life to follow at 6PM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery
