Wilbur F. Waaser

April 19, 1922 ~ December 18, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Wilbur F. “Bill” Waaser, 95, of Elbridge passed on to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at the Syracuse V.A. Hospital on Dec. 18th, due to complications from pneumonia. He was born in Queens, NY, living in Utica and Fayetteville, NY before moving to Elbridge. He was the son of Rev. Frank Lewis Waaser and Annie E. McKeever Waaser.

Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a 1st Lt from 1943-1946 ferrying BellP-39 Air cobras from the continental US to Alaska as part of the Lend Lease program with the Russians.

Bill attended Houghton College prior to his service in WW II and graduated from Syracuse University in 1949 with a Masters Degree in Business and Marketing. He taught marketing at Utica College and thereafter went into educational sales until his retirement in 1988.

He was an avid recreational runner and x-country skier at one time. He enjoyed flying his private plane until age 91.  Bill previously raised Arabian horses, loved fly fishing, hunting partridge and shooting skeet.

He was predeceased by his former wife Regina Acton Waaser. Surviving are a son Eric of Palm City, FL, a daughter Anne Delman of Amherst, MA, granddaughters Lindsay Delman and Bree Delman Silver, great grandson Leo Silver and his wife Carol Burritt.

Friends are invited to call 4-7pm Friday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Memphis, 1960 W. Genesee Turnpike (Rt. 5) located between Elbridge and Camillus. Contributions may be made to the church, 1960 W. Genesee Turnpike, Elbridge, NY 13060.
