Nicholas Andrianos Obituary

Nicholas R. Andrianos, 84, of Jordan went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday at home in the care of his loving family.

Born March 30, 1933 in the family home 209 W. Heman St. E. Syracuse, he was the son of Robert and Maria Andrianos. Nicholas’ parents were born in Greece and his father Robert came to America in 1905 with his brothers and they were pioneer businessmen in E. Syracuse, owning and operating the Boston Candy Kitchen, later re-named Hercules Candy Co. which is still operated by the third generation. Nicholas graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1950. After working in various jobs, he entered the Marine Corps in August 1952, Korean War, stationed two years in Japan before being honorably discharged in 1955. After returning home from the Marine Corps, he started working for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western RR. They later merged with the Erie and became known as the Erie Lackawanna RR again later as ConRail, now known as CSX railroad. He retired from ConRail in 1995 after 40 years of service as a Conductor.

Married Barbara Hurd in 1963 and they lived 43 years in E. Syracuse before retiring to a ranch home in Jordan. They enjoyed spending the winters in Zephyrhills, FL.  

Nicholas was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Zephyrhills and was active member in the Gideons International Organization, supporting and distributing Bibles and New Testaments to schools, colleges, hotels, and hospitals. Nicholas was a former Village of E. Syracuse trustee, Past Commander and member of American Legion Post 359, E. Syracuse and past president of the Railroad Evangelistic Association. He was a supporter of New Hope Family Services and Syracuse Teen Challenge. Nicholas enjoyed his family, gardening and taking care of the property in Jordan and Florida. His primary love was ALL children, his own children, his thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren

He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters Georgia and Elaine, 3 brothers Hercules, Steven and John.

Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Barbara, 4 sons Christopher (Marianne), James (Janet), Jason (Jodi) and Daniel (Lisa) and 3 step-daughters Susan (Chris) Unz, Nancy (Mark) Hvizdos, and Carol Mauro (Bob Hollis), his brother Dan (Anne) Andrianos,13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration Service will be 11am Friday in the Elbridge Community Church. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan. Friends may call 4-7pm Thursday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt.5) Elbridge.
