Lorine Beatrice (Cheetham) Armstrong, 85, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 at Auburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born on July 9,1931 to the late Paul and Grace (Medler) Cheetham in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Taft Junior College in Taft, CA., and graduated from Canton ATI (now SUNY Canton), where she met her husband, Chester Armstrong. They were married on 11/13/54, and made their home in West Stockholm, NY until they relocated to Syracuse in 1963.
Lorine worked as a dietician at the former Syracuse Memorial Hospital (now Crouse Hospital), and was instrumental in developing a menu to enable patients to select their own food items. She also worked as a secretary for the H.J. Eklund Company until her retirement in 1996.
Lorine was active in Boy Scout Troop 400, and enjoyed ham radio, trap and target shooting, antiques, spending time with her family, and her animals, especially St. Bernards.
In addition to her parents, Lorine was predeceased by her husband in 2001, and her great grandchildren Daniel, Madison and Brayden Arnold.
She is survived by her son Kurt (Melanie) Armstrong, Homer, her daughters Pamela (James) Lowe, Liverpool and Barbara (Michael) Hynes, Jordan, her sister, Vanda Spangle, Binghamton, and her brother John (Ellen) Cheetham, North Carolina, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 30 from 2-4 PM at Bush Funeral Home, 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge, with a brief memorial service immediately following.
She will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Parishville, NY.
