Gary W. Polmanteer 71 of Memphis passed away peacefully Tuesday at home in the loving care of his family. Born in Syracuse, Gary grew up in the hamlet of Memphis and he lived in Pennellville before moving back to Memphis.
Gary was a 1963 graduate of Jordan-Elbridge High School. He was a crane operator and a member of IUOE Local 545 since 1965. Gary was also an Auctioneer having graduated from Missouri Auction School in 1981. Gary was a former member and past chief of the Pennellville Fire Dept. and he was a former member of the Memphis Fire Dept. For several years, Gary served as President of the J-E Alumni Association and he was an active member of the Jordan United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife Patricia Holbrook Polmanteer, a son Gary W. Polmanteer II, 4 daughters Sandra (Roger) Partridge, Renee Elizabeth Polmanteer, Elizabeth (Andy) Silverstein, and Tammy Lynn (late Jim) Kohanski, 2 brothers Ronald and Gene, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be 11am Saturday in the Jordan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Hardman officiating. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Jordan United Methodist Church.
