David A. Gonyea 57 of Jordan passed away Saturday after a courageous battle with brain cancer. A lifelong resident of Jordan, David was a 1976 graduate of Jordan –Elbridge High School. He was employed by Cargill for 21 years and he also owned a catering business for 17 years. Throughout his life David was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors. 

He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Rita Gonyea and brother James Gonyea. Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years Carolyn (Harris) Gonyea, daughters Jamie (Anthony) Napolitano, Shannon Gonyea, and Lindsay Gonyea, brother Gary (Carol) Gonyea, sister Sharon (Gary) Parker, 6 grandchildren, a niece and nephews. David will be dearly missed by all his friends and family members.

Calling hours will be 3-7pm Wednesday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11am Thursday in St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

David’s wish was that in lieu of flowers any donations or contributions be made to his family. He spent his last days at home, cared for by several loving family members and friends.
