Betty Hewitt Obituary

Betty L. Hewitt, 78 of Warners passed away peacefully Monday  at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Auburn, Betty lived in the area for the past 56 years. She was predeceased by her husband James E. Hewitt Sr. in 1997. For several years, Betty was a well loved Jordan Elbridge School District bus driver. She had a passion for cooking which included her own catering service and plus being the cook at the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority and Psi Upsilon Fraternity both at Syracuse University.

Surviving are two sons James E. Jr. and Shawn, two daughters Mary (Dutch) Dwyer and Kelly (Rob) Shackleton, her brother Fred, and sisters Rita and Shirley, 4 grandchildren John, Jessie James, Emily, and Ryley, 4 great grandchildren Ella, Miles, Jax, and Daphne.

Betty’s greatest joy was cooking and canning for her family and friends. Her favorite treasurers in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 4-7pm Thursday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt.5) Elbridge.  Graveside services will be 11am Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Warners. Immediately following, friends and family are invited to Betty’s home on Warners Road for a time of fellowship, remembering,  and enjoying  a meal.   Contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of CNY, 731 James St. Syracuse 13203
