Austin P. Cabral, 79 of Cato went home with his Lord and Savior on May 25, 2017. Austin worked as an automotive and truck mechanic most of his life. He was a former school bus driver with the Cato-Meridian School District.

For many years Austin was an active and faithful member of the American Baptist Men of NYS.

Surviving are his wife Lillian, 2 daughters Catherine (Christopher) Olander and Christine (Christopher) Hussak, 2 step-daughters Susan and Marjorie Gridley, 3 step-sons Christopher, Jeffrey and Michael Gridley, a sister Delores Filippi and sister-in-law Fran Cabral, 7 grandchildren Brandon, Caitlin, Emily, Alec, Cheyenne, Annalise, and Sophia.

A Celebration of Life will be Friday, June 2nd at 4pm in the Port Byron Federated Church, 35 Tex Pultz Pkwy., Port Byron, NY with Rev. David Movsovich and Pastor Kathy Wilt officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Cemetery.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to CIMVAC (2496 W. Main St., Cato, NY 13033) or Cato Fire Dept. (2569 E. Main St. Cato, NY 13033)

The family expresses its deep appreciation to all the staff at Auburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving and professional care provided Austin during his stay. The Bush Funeral Home of Elbridge has charge of arrangements.
