Alice Doris (Finkle) Yawney, 87 of Jordan passed away Saturday in Auburn Community Hospital after a brief illness. A life time resident of Jordan, she was a 1948 graduate of Jordan High School. Alice was employed over the years at GTE Sylvania, Jordan Elbridge School Cafeteria, Auburn Leather Crafters and the Pit Stop in Weedsport. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan and a member of the church choir. Alice enjoyed her bowling league and her card nights with the “girls”. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother who found much pleasure spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was seeing the smiles of her grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her parents Leland and Marguerite (Haggett) Finkle, her husband Harry J. Yawney and her son Michael J. Yawney.
Surviving are her children, Harry J. Yawney, Brenda (Phillip) DiRisio, Thomas G. (Julie) Yawney, and Kelly A. Fletcher, brother-in-law Harrison Edgbert, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am Saturday, Jan. 13th in St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4-7pm Friday at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt.5) Elbridge. Contributions may be made to the Jordan Ambulance Fund or the Francis House.
