Adelaide K. Cox

March 28, 1922 ~ April 8, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Adelaide “Kaye” Smith Cox, 95 of Jordan passed away peacefully April 8th at Matthew House, Auburn. Adelaide is predeceased by her brothers August Haupt and Jerome Young, her son Franklin Smith and son-in-law Gerald Connelly, granddaughters Christina Smith and Deanne Smith.

Adelaide was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed time spent with family and longed to see family members who lived far away. She was a vivacious, generous, caring person. She had many friends who enjoyed her sense of humor and artistic ability. She referred to her younger friends as her other daughters and they referred to her as “Mom”. After retiring from Gaylord Brothers, she loved eating out, planting flowers, and painting and sketching. She painted and decorated birdhouses that she loved to gift to family, friends and anyone who admired them. She loved to make people laugh and she kept her sense of humor to the very end. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sister Elsie Haupt, her children Julianne (Dan) Carlton, Catherine Connelly, and Charles Smith, her daughter-in-law Debbie Smith, 13 grandchildren Nathan, Kevin, and Steven Carlton, Kym Pierce, Lynette Saltus, Julie Smith, Anthony Hall, Heather Cook, Scott Scheel, Christine Pratt, Jennifer Healy, Jessica Bakay and numerous great grandchildren.
